Mexico City, Mexico
“Despite the political climate, our beloved neighboring country Mexico is the perfect destination for affordable travel this spring. Sure there are stunning coastlines in places like Playa del Carmen, Cancun, and Cabo, but I urge you to venture a bit further, get outside the box and explore off the beaten path down to Mexico City, also referred to as CDMX. CMDX makes for an affordable spring 2019 destination. Due to its proximity to the U.S., you can snag a flight from as low as $175 round trip if you book enough in advance. Once you arrive there are plenty of Airbnbs to choose from that won’t kill your pockets, and the street food scene is to die for. Tacos, Flautas, and Elote on every corner will make the foodie in you go crazy without your bank account going into overdraft.
– Make use of Uber. You can get around the city pretty easily for less than $4.
– Visit the pyramids of Teotihuacan to witness the ancient temple ruins.
– Spend the day in Coyoacán, get to know the Frida Kahlo museum (get your tickets in advanced online to skip the crazy queue), shop in the street markets and grab a cup of coffee at Café Negro.
– Don’t miss the beautiful parks, monuments, and street art, all free of charge.” — Jakiya of The Traveling Fro
